Sculptra® is an FDA-approved injectable biostimulator made of poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) that works by stimulating your body's natural collagen production. Unlike traditional dermal fillers, Sculptra gradually restores volume and improves skin quality over time by encouraging the body to produce new collagen.

More About Sculptra

Sculptra is commonly used to address age-related volume loss in the cheeks, temples, jawline, chin, and other areas of the face. It may also be used to improve skin texture, firmness, and overall facial rejuvenation.

At BevMed LA, every treatment plan is customized based on your facial anatomy, degree of volume loss, age, and aesthetic goals. Our goal is to create natural-looking, long-lasting results that restore youthful facial structure without appearing overfilled.

What Areas Can Sculptra Treat?

Sculptra is commonly used for:

  • Cheek volume loss

  • Temple hollowing

  • Jawline definition

  • Chin enhancement

  • Facial aging and collagen loss

  • Skin laxity

  • Smile lines (nasolabial folds)

  • Marionette lines

  • Overall facial rejuvenation

Sculptra may also be used in select patients for neck, chest, buttocks, and body collagen stimulation.

How Does Sculptra Work?

Sculptra works differently than traditional fillers. Rather than immediately filling an area, Sculptra stimulates collagen production beneath the skin. As new collagen develops over several weeks and months, patients gradually notice improvements in facial volume, skin quality, and overall appearance. Because results develop gradually, many patients appreciate the natural progression and subtle enhancement.

How Many Vials Will I Need?

The number of vials needed depends on age, degree of volume loss, and treatment goals.

A common guideline is approximately one vial per decade of life.

Examples:

  • 30s: 3–4 vials

  • 40s: 4–5 vials

  • 50s: 5–6 vials

  • 60s+: 6+ vials

Many patients achieve optimal results through a series of treatments performed over several months.

A personalized treatment plan will be created during your consultation.

When Will I See Results?

Unlike hyaluronic acid fillers, Sculptra results develop gradually. Most patients begin noticing improvement within several weeks, with continued collagen production occurring over the following months. Results often continue to improve for 3–6 months after treatment.

How Long Does Sculptra Last?

One of Sculptra's most attractive features is its longevity. Results may last up to 2 years or longer in many patients, although individual results vary based on age, metabolism, lifestyle factors, and treatment plan. Periodic maintenance treatments may help prolong results.

Is There Downtime?

Most patients experience minimal downtime. Temporary swelling, tenderness, bruising, redness, or small bumps at injection sites may occur and generally resolve within several days. Most patients return to normal activities immediately after treatment.

Sculptra Aftercare

Patients are commonly instructed to follow the "5-5-5 Rule":

  • Massage treated areas for 5 minutes

  • 5 times per day

  • For 5 days following treatment

Additional aftercare instructions will be provided during your visit.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Sculptra?

Sculptra is a collagen-stimulating injectable made of poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) that helps restore facial volume and improve skin quality over time.

Is Sculptra a filler?

Sculptra is considered a biostimulatory injectable rather than a traditional filler. It works primarily by stimulating collagen production instead of directly filling tissue.

How many Sculptra treatments will I need?

Many patients undergo 2–3 treatment sessions spaced several weeks apart. The ideal treatment plan depends on your goals and degree of volume loss.

Does Sculptra look natural?

Because collagen develops gradually over time, Sculptra is known for producing subtle, natural-looking facial rejuvenation.

Can Sculptra lift the face?

Sculptra can improve facial structure, volume, and skin quality, creating a lifting and rejuvenating effect in appropriate candidates.

What is the difference between Sculptra and filler?

Traditional fillers provide immediate volume by placing gel beneath the skin. Sculptra stimulates your body's own collagen production, resulting in gradual and longer-lasting improvement.

Does Sculptra help with skin texture?

Many patients notice improvements in skin quality, firmness, elasticity, and texture as collagen production increases.

Who is a good candidate for Sculptra?

Healthy adults experiencing age-related volume loss, collagen depletion, facial hollowing, or skin laxity may be candidates for treatment.

How much does Sculptra cost?

At BevMed LA, Sculptra treatments start at $800 per vial. Total cost depends on the number of vials recommended to achieve your desired outcome.

Is Sculptra worth it?

Many patients appreciate Sculptra because it produces natural-looking results, stimulates collagen production, and may last significantly longer than many traditional fillers.
